Pink in the Rink

Syracuse, NY --The Syracuse Crunch announced today that the Crunch Foundation, the club's charitable arm, is partnering with SUNY Upstate Medical University to host 'Pink in the Rink', a breast cancer awareness night to benefit the Upstate Cancer Center and Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund on Saturday October 27 as the team takes on the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins at 7:30 p.m.

In honor of breast cancer awareness month, fans are encouraged to wear pink to the Saturday's October 27 game vs. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. The first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive a complimentary pink shirt courtesy of the Crunch and Upstate Cancer Center.

Tickets for 'Pink in the Rink' can be purchased for $15 with a portion of the proceeds going to the Upstate Cancer Center and Carol M. Baldwin by using the code 'PinktheRink'.

Fans are encouraged to visit the 'Pink Zone' on the upper concourse for special 'Pink in the Rink' activities hosted by the Crunch Foundation.

Beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the 'Pink Zone' the Crunch Foundation will sell one hundred (100) pink mystery pucks. For only $10, fans will have the opportunity to purchase pink bags, containing one limited edition pink puck autographed by a 'mystery' Crunch player.

In addition, the Crunch Foundation will hold a silent auction on the upper concourse beginning at 6:30 p.m. through the second intermission. Proceeds from both the pink 'mystery puck' fundraiser and silent auction will benefit Upstate Cancer Center and the Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund.

The 'Pink Zone' on the second floor will also host the Crunch Foundation Prize Wheel.  For just $1, fans will have the chance to spin the wheel to win Syracuse Crunch prizes in support of the Upstate Cancer Center and Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund.

Already known for its #1 cancer-fighting program, Upstate Medical University is striking even harder at this formidable enemy by building the new Upstate Cancer Center in Syracuse, New York. Opening in 2013, this five-story, LEED silver certified facility will be the only comprehensive outpatient resource for the treatment of cancer and blood disorders for both children and adults in a 17-county service area.  The new Center will unify Upstate's cancer care services under one roof and feature support services and special amenities to address all aspects of patient and family-centered care…within a new comforting, hope-filled environment. For more information call 315-464-HOPE (4673) or visit www.upstate.edu/cancercenter.

Carol Baldwin is a crusader. After being diagnosed in 1990 she was determined to beat breast cancer. Once she received a clean slate from her doctors, she made it her goal to help other women that were fighting against the disease. At the time, early detection of breast cancer had gained momentum. Carol felt it was time to move to the next step to find a cure. That is why the mission of the Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund of CNY is to support medical research, and her slogan is, “Together we will find a cure”. All funds raised by the fund stay locally in the Central New York area with research grants being donated to SUNY Upstate Medical University .

The Crunch Foundation strives to strengthen and broaden the impact of the Syracuse Crunch in the Central New York region by providing funds to non-profit groups and by supporting educational and community programs.
