Syracuse, NY (November 5, 2011) – The Syracuse Crunch scored four power-play goals and killed all five Rochester penalties en route to a 5-2 victory over the Americans Saturday night at the War Memorial.

Right wing Dan Sexton exploded for five points (1g, 4a) and defensemen Kyle Cumiskey, Bryan Rodney and Mat Clark all scored their first goal of the season as the Crunch improved to 5-3-1-1.

The Crunch were able to capitalize on their first power play of the game, going up 1-0 on a Cumiskey slap shot at the 5:51 mark of the first period. With Rochester's Marcus Foligno in the box for high-sticking Cumiskey took a pass from Mark Bell and had a wide open lane in front Americans goalie Drew MacIntyre.

The Crunch scored two power-play goals and killed two Amerks power plays, including 51 seconds of 5-on-3 time at the start of the frame, to give themselves a 3-1 cushion going into the third period.

Their second power-play goal of the night came when Rochester's Brayden McNabb was serving two minutes for a hooking penalty. With two seconds remaining on the power play Dan Sexton was able to slip a shot past MacIntyre to put the Crunch up 2-1 halfway through the second period.

Right wing Matt Kennedy drew a tripping penalty from Amerks defenseman Drew Schiestel to give the Crunch their fourth power play of the game 14:22 into the second. Rodney put the Crunch up 3-1 with a slap shot from the point, the team's third power play goal of the night.

Mark Bell added another power-play tally 12: 28 into the third period and Clark scored with, 3:26 remaining, at even strength to bring the Crunch's goal total to five.

With just 15 seconds remaining in the game Rochester left wing Foligno snuck a shot past Iiro Tarkki making the final 5-2 in favor of the Crunch.

The Crunch travel to Rochester Sunday, November 6 to conclude this home-and-home series against the Americans.
