Game Notes: 4/12/08 v. Binghamton Senators

Cardiac Crunch Pull Out Fourteenth Straight Win

Syracuse, N.Y. (April 12, 2008) -
The pressure was on and the Syracuse Crunch pulled through once again. Make it 14 in a row and counting with Saturday's 1-0 shutout of the Binghamton Senators at the Onondaga County War Memorial in front of a sold out crowd of 6,289.

Syracuse now has sole possession of second place in the North Division after the Manitoba Moose dropped a 3-2 decision to the Grand Rapids Griffins in overtime.

The theme for the season finale against the Hamilton Bulldogs Sunday...“Just Win Baby”. If they do, then the playoffs will begin on Friday April 18th at home.

Syracuse was under the gun to pull out its 14th straight win knowing that the Moose had lost but that the point they earned could have done a lot of damage for the hopes of the team to secure home ice in the Calder Cup Playoffs if not for Joakim Lindstrom.

Once the announcement was made of the Manitoba final the Crunch stepped up its game and with just less than four-minutes remaining Lindstrom fired a shot from the right circle that caught the far top corner of the net and gave Syracuse the win.

Not only is Syracuse on the AHL’s most torrid stretch in consecutive wins, but it has become very stingy when it comes to allowing goals, posting its second straight shutout.

This game the atta-boy goes to Adam Munro, stopping 31 Senators chances.

3-Stars—No. 1, Lindstrom, No. 2, Munro, No. 3, Jeff Glass

They said it –

“At this point tomorrow’s game is the biggest game of the year, no question. With Manitoba’s loss it’s key that we win tomorrow. It will be great to get home ice advantage and we’re all looking forward to it.” Marc Methot post-game comments.

“We are just looking to play well tomorrow. If we play well and lose we’ll be happy. You never know if a goalie will stand on his head or they get a lucky bounce. We aren’t worried about playing a hard 60 minutes. We should take care of ourselves if we play the way we’ve been playing. The bottom line is we play hard for 60 minutes the game will take care of itself.” Zenon Konopka’s post-game thoughts.

“It gave us a little extra energy when we heard Manitoba had lost. We didn’t come out with a strong first period and the second wasn’t good enough either. We knew we had to go out and play harder in the third. (Glass) played a great game. We played positive and have a winning feeling in here right now. We have to keep on working and keep going. We were successful and lucky enough to get the goal and the win.” Joakim Lindstrom’s post-game comments.
