Crunch Drop Second Straight to Manitoba

Winnipeg, MB (January 25, 2008) – The Syracuse Crunch fell to the Manitoba Moose tonight, 3-1 at the MTS Center in front of 8,003 fans.

The Crunch came out looking to salvage a split in the back-to-back games with Manitoba. They took one step towards that mission when Tom Sestito cashed in at the 14:42 mark of the first period to give the Crunch a 1-0 lead.

Clay Wilson carried the puck into the offensive zone, went around the net and skated up to the top of the right circle where he threw the puck on goal. The 6’4, 210 pound Sestito found the rebound and smacked it past Manitoba starter Drew MacIntyre for his sixth goal of the season.

Both teams tallied 12 shots in the first frame.

After scoring the first goal, the Crunch repeated what they did last night when they gave up the next two scores to the Moose.

Juaraj Simek got Manitoba on the board at the 10:20 mark of the second when he came in, deked around the Syracuse defense and roofed a wrister over the right shoulder of Crunch starter Karl Goehring.

Crunch all-time leading scorer Brad Moran would tally his 10th goal of the campaign at the 14:31 mark of the second stanza. Moran came down the left wing and looked to pass. Realizing he did not have a lane, he shot the puck through the five-hole of Goehring to give Manitoba a 2-1 lead.

Manitoba clamped down defensively in the third period. Alexandre Bolduc iced the game with an empty-netter with 45 seconds to go and the Crunch fell to the Moose, 3-1.
