Crunch Fall Short in Overtime

Syracuse, NY (January 19, 2008) -
The Syracuse Crunch dropped a 3-2 overtime decision to the Lake Erie Monsters Saturday at the Onondaga County War Memorial.

Dan DaSilva scored unassisted with a little less then five minutes left in the third period to force the overtime. Syracuse spotted Lake Erie an extra skater in overtime when Steven Goertzen received a two-minute high-sticking penalty at the end of regulation.

The Monsters needed only 43 seconds to send the 5,924 fans home disappointed after Syracuse, with the help of goalie Adam Munro held the lead for most of the game.
Chris Stewart fired home the game-winner with a blast from the top of the right circle that found the short-side top corner.

Joakim Lindstrom gave Syracuse an early lead with just over four minutes left in the first as he tipped home a shot by Adam Pineault even though the Crunch were being outshot 11-7. It was Lindstrom's team-leading 17th goal of the year.

Syracuse's power play fizzled with five minutes left in the second period when Mitch Love scored shorthanded to tie the game for Lake Erie.

Zenon Konopka put Syracuse back in front with a snap shot from the slot on a feed from Lindstrom nearly three minutes later.

Munro finished with 28 saves while Lake Erie goalie Tyler Weiman made 25 for the Monsters.

3 Stars--No. 1, Chris Stewart, No. 2, Adam Munro, No. 3, Dan DaSilva
