Plekhanov and Wharton Sent to Elmira

Syracuse, NY (January 3, 2008) – The Syracuse Crunch announced today that defenseman Andrei Plekhanov has been loaned to Elmira. In addition, defenseman Kyle Wharton has been reassigned by Columbus to Elmira.
 
Plekhanov, 21, has appeared in 22 games for the Crunch this season, registering 2 goals, 9 assists and 4 penalty minutes. Plekhanov also appeared in one game with Elmira this season, notching an assist. A native of Nizhnekamsk, Russia, Plekhanov was drafted by Columbus in the third round, 96th overall, in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
 
Wharton, 21, has appeared in 13 games for the Crunch this season, tallying 2 goals, 1 assist and 29 penalty minutes. A native of Ottawa, Ontario, Wharton was drafted by Columbus in the second round, 59th overall, in the 2004.
