The Syracuse Crunch announced today that the Northland Communications “Business of the Month” for the month of January is SECNY Federal Credit Union.
Chartered in May of 1971, the credit union is a member- owned, non-profit, full-service financial institution. Each account is federally insured up to $100,000 by the National Credit Union Administration. SECNY Federal Credit Union has the distinction for being rated one of best financial institutions in the United States.
SECNY FCU is the only community credit union for Central New York. This community charter status offers membership opportunities to any person working, living, worshipping, attending school in and businesses and legal entities in the Central New York area. This area consists of Onondaga, Madison, and Oswego and Cayuga counties. The ability to serve a greater area allows SECNY to build more offices, install new ATMs and enhance its electronic delivery systems.
Credit union membership prior to the community charter, was a free benefit offered ONLY by sponsor groups which had requested credit union services for its employees, association members, club members, students and family members. The very nature of SECNY has been to serve its schools, students and their families thus serving a very important part of the Central New community. Achieving community charter status is one of the many successful highlights of the credit union’s 32-year existence.
SECNY FCU presently has a main office location on Onondaga Hill and branch locations in Baldwinsville and Manlius. Anyone with questions about membership may contact any of these branches at the following numbers: Onondaga Hill Main Office 315-469-5599, Baldwinsville 315-635-5418, Manlius 315-682-1174, and Mortgage Services 315-492-2267. A new office complex planned for the city of Syracuse is scheduled for 2003. SECNY FCU is also located on the web at www.secny.org.
