Western Conference Champions!

Syracuse, NY, (Sunday, April 7, 2002)

The Syracuse Crunch won their first-ever conference championship on Saturday night, defeating the Albany 3-2 in overtime at the War Memorial at Oncenter.

Right wing David Ling scored with just one second remaining in regulation to tie the score and scored with 59 seconds remaining in overtime to win the game.

By winning the Western Conference title Syracuse will host the lowest seed that comes out of the qualifying round, which begins on Tuesday, April 9.
