Westcott Recalled By Columbus -- McCauley Signed To P.T.O.

Syracuse, NY, (Wednesday, March 20, 2002)

The Syracuse Crunch announced today that the Columbus Blue Jackets have recalled defenseman Duvie Westcott. The Crunch also announced that they have signed defenseman Blaine McCauley to a professional tryout contract.

Westcott, 24, has appeared in 62 games with Syracuse this season, registering four goals and 29 assists. He is sixth on the team with 33 points and second among AHL Rookies with 29 assists. A native of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Westcott was signed as a free agent by Columbus on May 7, 2001.

McCauley, 26, has appeared in 56 games this season with Dayton (ECHL), recording three goals, five assists and 298 penalty minutes. A native of Georgetown, Ontario, McCauley appeared in four games with Syracuse earlier this season, recording 23 penalty minutes.

Syracuse returns to action tonight against the Cleveland Barons at the Gund Arena for a 7:05 p.m. face-off. Crunch action can be heard on SportsRadio WHEN 620 with play-by- play announcer Bob McElligott. The Crunch return to the War Memorial Friday to take on the Hamilton Bulldogs.
