The American Hockey League announced today five suspensions resulting from the game between the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins and the Syracuse Crunch on March 17, 2002, in Wilkes-Barre.
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton left wing Steve Parsons has been suspended for twelve (12) games as a result of his actions. Parsons will miss the Penguins’ final eight games of the 2001-02 regular season: March 20 at Philadelphia, March 23 at Grand Rapids, March 27 at Norfolk, March 29 at Norfolk, March 30 vs. Syracuse, April 3 at Philadelphia, April 5 vs. Philadelphia and April 6 at Hershey. The final four games will be served subsequently during the 2002 AHL playoffs and/or the 2002-03 AHL regular season.
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton right wing Jason MacDonald has been suspended for six (6) regular season games as a result of his actions. MacDonald will miss the Penguins’ next six games: March 20 at Philadelphia, March 23 at Grand Rapids, March 27 at Norfolk, March 29 at Norfolk, March 30 vs. Syracuse and April 3 at Philadelphia.
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton center Darcy Verot has been suspended for two (2) regular season games as a result of receiving a match penalty during the game. Verot will miss the Penguins’ next two games: March 20 at Philadelphia and March 23 at Grand Rapids.
Syracuse defenseman Andrei Sryubko has been suspended for six (6) regular season games as a result of his actions. Sryubko will miss the Crunch’s next six games: March 20 at Cleveland, March 22 vs. Hamilton, March 23 vs. Albany, March 29 at Rochester, March 30 at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and April 3 vs. Rochester.
Syracuse left wing Brad Wingfield has been suspended for two (2) regular season games as a result of his actions. Wingfield will miss the Crunch’s next two games: March 20 at Cleveland and March 22 vs. Hamilton.
