Mirabito Outdoor Classic Preparations - January 6

Syracuse, NY, (Wednesday, January 6, 2010)
Preparations continued on Wednesday at the New York State Fairgrounds in order to turn a summer time race track into a winter time hockey rink. Temperatures in the Syracuse area were in the low 20s, while the windchill made it feel closer to 10 or less at the Fairgrounds.

This historic project will continue to be documented throughout the process right here on SyracuseCrunch.com, as well as on Twitter at twitter.com/SyracuseCrunch.

Since Monday morning, barriers have been moved into place, protective material has been laid and the first truck loads of crushed stone have been delivered in order to level out the race track. Truck loads of stone are expected to be delivered over the next 3-5 days before being rolled and leveled. From there a "sand box" will be built on top which will later be the base of the ice surface.
