Columbus Acquires Defenseman Jonathan Sigalet from Boston in Exchange for Rights to Left Wing Matt Marquardt

Syracuse, NY (May 28, 2008) – The Syracuse Crunch announced today that the Columbus Blue Jackets have acquired defenseman Jonathan Sigalet from the Boston Bruins in exchange for the rights to left wing Matt Marquardt.
Sigalet, 22, appeared in 70 games with Providence last season, tallying 3 goals, 20 assists and 58 penalty minutes. He also appeared in 10 playoff games with Providence last season, notching 3 assists. In all, Sigalet has appeared in 199 regular season AHL games, racking up 21 goals, 60 assists and 154 penalty minutes.
A native of Vancouver, British Columbia, Sigalet played two seasons at Bowling Green State University (CCHA) appearing in 72 games, posting 6 goals, 25 assists and 62 penalty minutes before being drafted by Boston in the fourth round, 100th overall, in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
Marquardt, 20, appeared in 35 games for Baie-Comeau Drakkar (QMJHL) last season, picking up 23 goals, 13 assists and 33 penalty minutes. He also appeared in 35 games for Moncton (QMJHL) last year, notching 20 goals, 13 assists and 38 penalty minutes.
A native of North Bay, Ontario, Marquardt was drafted by Columbus in the seventh round, 194th overall, in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.
