
The Syracuse Crunch announced today that defenseman Radim Bicanek has been named the American Hockey League’s Sher- Wood Player of the Week for the period ending April 1, 2001. In recognition of Bicanek’s achievement, Sher-Wood will donate five hockey bags to the Cortland Youth Hockey Association at Bicanek’s request.
Bicanek appeared in four games for the Crunch this week, recording at least a point in all four games, totaling two goals and four assists. Bicanek gave the Crunch a great start to their undefeated week, scoring the game-winning goal on Wednesday night in Albany with just 18 seconds remaining in overtime. On Sunday night, Bicanek scored his 22nd goal of the season, to maintain a tie for the League lead among defensemen. Bicanek also extended his current point streak to eight games.
In 67 games this season, Bicanek has registered 22 goals, 43 assists and 122 penalty minutes. He is tied for second among AHL defensemen in points. In six games with the Blue Jackets this season, Bicanek tallied two assists.
