Syracuse, NY, (Thursday, January 18, 2001)

The Syracuse Crunch announced today that their Breakfast series will continue on February 8 at 8 a.m. and feature former NHL great Pat LaFontaine.

LaFontaine is second only to Joe Mullen among American born players in goals in NHL history. LaFontaine ranks 37th on the NHL's all-time goals list and 54th on the all-time points list.

A native of St. Louis, MO, LaFontaine was drafted by the New York Islanders with the third overall pick in the 1983 NHL Entry Draft. The Sabres traded LaFontaine to the New York Rangers on September 29, 1997 for a second round pick and future considerations. After a number of concussions Lafontaine retired following the 1997- 98 season.

LaFontaine appeared in five NHL All-Star Games (1988-91 and 1993) and was awarded the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy (player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey) during the 1994-95 season.
